Michaels 6th Birthday

Our Grandson, Michael is turning 6 on March 30, 2010, but we were celebrating his birthday a few days early. One of the things that he got for his birthday is a netbook computer. Boy was he a happy camper to get that. We had a small celebration of family members. Michael's party was kept small because of other things that are about to happen within our family. He wanted a Scooby Do cake so his Mom made him one and decorated the cake herself. I do say that she did an excellent job on the cake. I thought that the candles for his card was appropriate for his age.

Mojo Monday Card Challenge Week 130

Here is my version for the current Mojo Monday chaallenge. I decided to use the resist technique using shabby shutters and china blue distress inks. The shabby shutters shows up on camera and on the computer more like a tan instead of a green.
The following Hero Arts stamps were used: CL butterfly Wallpaper AR172, Poppy Background CG140, Flourish Background CG119, Wavy Leaf Pattern S5050, and For You AR139.

The New Mom's Survival Kit

I made this pocket card for my daughter who is expecting a baby any day now (March 28 is her due date). Inside the pocket is a tag that has a list of items that she might need after the baby is born. I thought that it would be cute to give her this card and the items that go with the card. This is what is on the tag:
The New Mom's Survival Kit
1. Hershey Hugs and Kisses--for you and baby both, because you both deserve them.
2. Clock--to remind you that time will pass by too quickly, enjoy every moment.
3. Mirror--to remind you that you are important, too.
4. Marbles--to replace the ones that you will lose.
5. Rubber Band--to remind you that flexibility is the key.
6. Life Savers--to save you from one of those days.
7. Tissue--to dry those tears, the baby's and yours.
8. Lollipop--to lick all your problems.
9. Eraser--to remind you that every mom makes mistakes.
10. Puzzle piece--because you are an important piece in your child's journey through life.
I have assembled these items and now I just need to make a gift bag to put them in. I plan on giving this to my daughter after the baby is born.

Mojo Monday Challenge 129

This is my card for the Mojo Monday Card Challenge (129). I used Hero Arts Two Birds (3 images) CG152 and Festive Borders AR133. I stamped the flowers with red and green ink. Then I made a mask and covered the flowers so that I could distress the background in china blue distress ink. I did a resist ink technique for the frame and used shabby shutters and wild honey distress inks. Then I attached the pieces to a card blank (4 1/4 x 6).

Paper Play Challenge

This is the card that I created for the Paper Play Challenge. The stamps that I used were Hero Arts Floral Garden CG107 and CL Truly Appreciated 6x4 CL380. I distressed the flowers with Scattered Straw, Shabby Shutters, Spun Sugar, and Dusty Concord. Instead of using clear embossing powder I decided to use a lilac pastel embossing powder. I like the color lilac behind the flowers.

Album For My Friend

It has been a while since I have posted anything on my blog. I was away visiting my children and Grandchildren and have not had much time this past week to post anything. I could not post anything while I was with my family (didn't bring my computer with me). I decided to make this flip book for my friend. I want to give this small album to her to thank her for everything she has done for me and to show her that she is very much appreciated. The album was not difficult to make, just a little time consuming. I wanted the cover to be simple and show a touch of Spring. The cover is the only part of the album that I did any stamping. The inside of the album consist of pattern paper. The stamps that I used are: Engraved Flower CG141 and Swirly Frame S5179; both stamps are from Hero Arts. My daughter gave me the directions for this album, but I do not know who the original source is.
