Caardvarks Color and Heart Challenge

This is my design for the current Caardvark Challenge. There isn't a card sketch this time and the guidelines for this challenge is to make something red and to incoraporate hearts. All the stamps that I used were Hero Arts and the ink was distress ink by Ranger. The heart was cut from my "Wild Card" cartridge using my Cricuit Esspression. After I cut the heart (started with white paper), I distressed it with fired red and then stamped it with a flower border stamp and distressed some more. Each squar that the hear sits on is stamped with more flower border stamps and destressed with the same color ink. This was an enjoyable and fun card to make. Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday Challenge 123

This is my version of the Mojo Monday Challenge for this week. I had lots of fun working on these cards. I used the same inks and stamps; the stamps are Hero Arts and the inks are distressing inks by Ranger. The Mojo Monday Blog gave an option of making one or the other or making two cards. I thought that it would be fun to make two cards. Thanks for stopping by.

Everything but the Kitchen Sink challenge

This is my take on this challenge. My potted plant Hero Art stamp was perfect for this card. Everything else about this card sort of fell into place. Usually when I am working on a card it takes me most of the evening to finish what I started. The problem that I have is figuring out what color and type of paper to use. Once I know what I want, it doesn't take me long to assemble a card. Most of the time I do manage to get at least one card made a day.

Mojo Monday Challenge Week 122

This is the card that I made for the Mojo Monday challenge for week 122. The stamps that I used are as follows: Design block Butterfly S5041, Leaf Branch Border H5229, Old letter writing S4878, Dots & flowers S5213, and Clear Design Small Variety Alphabet CL137.
In order to get all the elements to fit on the card, I had to cut the card base to 4 1/4" x 6".
I stamped the Dots and Flowers stamp onto a creme colored paper (3" x 5 1/2"). I destressed the edges and mounted it on a 3 1/4" x 4 2/4" piece of green bazzil paper. The panel with the ribbon was actually stamped four time. The first layer of stamping was done with the Design Block Butterfly in clear embossing ink. When the clear embossing ink was dry, I lightly rubbed antiqued linen destress ink over the image. Then I stamped the leaf branch border stamp in an antique olive ink that was first stamped off on scratch paper. Then I destressed the panel with dusty rose destress ink. The last step that I did was stamp over the entire image with a very light rose chalk ink with the old letter writing stamp. For the heart, I destressed it with dusty rose destress ink and then embossed it with the dot embossing folder by cuttlebug. Then I placed a smaller heart inside the larger heart and assembled it.

My Favorite Card for January 2010

So far, for the month of January I have made about 10 cards. Out of the cards that I have made this month, my favorite card for January 2010 is: my "Happy Valentine's Day" card that is pictured here. Vicky from clips-n-cuts.com is hosting a blog candy give-away on her web site. All you have to do is post your favorite card for the month of January to her site and then she will pick a winner. (Anyway that is how I understand it.) The blog candy is a $25.00 gift certificate for Two Peas in a Bucket. Is that cool or what! It wouldn't take me long to spend $25.oo at two peas. Anyway, this is very generous of Vicky to do this. For more details, you can go to her site for more information.

Virginia L's Challenge

Virginia L, from the Hero Arts Flickr Group, is hosting a challenge from her blog; now until February 5, 2010. This is, so far, one card that I have completed for her challenge. (There is no limit on the number of cards or projects that you may submit.) The colors on the camera and on the screen appear to look oranage in this picture, but in real life the ribbon and card are a coral color. The heart and center piece of the card are a soft light red. So, to actually see the true colors of the card, you have to see it in real life.

Valentine's For My Grandkids

These are valentine cards that I made for my Grandkids, Michale and Megan. The Heart shaped card is for Megan and the Dinosaur card is for Michale (Michael and Megan are brother and sister). For Megan's card I cut out a heart from my Cricut Wild Card Cartridge. I stamped the background with a Hero Arts flouris Cling stamp and the stamped the little girl with another Hero Arts Girl gel stamp. I cut her out after I colored her and then put everything together to make the card. For Michael's card, I printed out a dinosaur that I found online and then I enlarged it to fit on a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card. Once cut out, I stamped over the cutout with Hero Arts Designer woodgrain stamp and then again with the raindrop stamp. For the grass, I tore a piece of green textured paper and stamp it with the Hero arts Grass Stamp. After I did all this, I assembled the card. These cards were entered in the January2010A Hero Arts Challenge.

Mojo Monday Challenge 121

I made this card for the Mojo Monday Challenge for this week. This challenge is for week 121. I decided to stamp this little girl unto a flesh colored paper and then paper piece the rest of her. I thought that paper piecing would be more of a challenge.

Two Card Challenges

The top card that features the white embossed flowers and example card next to it, is for the Challenge Gallery & New Challenge! The bottom card and sketch is for the Caardvarks Challenge. This is the first time that I have submitted cards to these two sites. I enjoy submitting my work because it keeps me current with my craft, helps me improve a little each day, and I enjoy making cards.

Mojo Monday Challenge 120

This is the card that I came up with for the Mojo Monday Card challenge. Instead of a circle, I decided to use a scallop heart. The butterfly was stamped, colored with Copic markers, cut out, and I applied a layer of Stampin Up! crystal effects.
